Compliance Posters
10/22/2010 / 1:14 pm    #1

We are installing a flat panel monitor with digital signage in our break room for news and information. I was wondering the legality of having the information from the compliance posters cycle through with the other bulletins. Are they required to be readily available at all times or is it ok if they just pop up every minute or two?

I am relatively new to the compliance world, but am learning quickly about federal, state & local regulations. We research for poster compliance twice a year and June is the beginning of my "search for compliance". In my research, many posting requirements include the verbiage that notices should be visible to all employees; some even state specific paper/font sizes.
You could encounter some issues of legality when, say the digital image on the screen is blank (ie, someone turns off the monitor!) or employees may be in these common areas in short bursts where they simply don't 'see' the poster come up on the screen, thus can argue later that they were never informed of the law...
Still, your great idea begs the question why don't government agencies requiring compliance specifically state digital versions for posting are okay, especially living in this 21st century GREEN world we're in now.
