Measuring the Impact of HR Initiatives: New Development in Program Evaluation

Measuring the impact of HR initiatives is one of those things that we say we should do but actually don´t do all that much-except perhaps in the area of training. Indeed, measuring impact presents challenges at many levels-linking cause and effect, getting the right kind of data together, etc. And indeed, the political challenges of doing evaluation work. Has any progress been made here?

One would think that program evaluation would be a popular activity given that it relates the ideas of demonstrating ROI and constructing strong business cases for initiatives.  First, this webcast will look at the things that make program evaluation difficult: the costs, the methodology, and the political sensitivities.  Then, our attention will turn to making program evaluation a workable thing to do.  One challenge is to move from a backward-looking process into a forward-looking process.
