As employers have turned their attention abroad for skilled talent, HR professionals are faced with the growing challenge of navigating the H-1B visa application process. Following the 2008 filing period in which over 160,000 petitions were received for the available 65,000 slots, HR departments must plan strategically and prepare today for the April 1st filing date. In addition, employers should be ready to explore additional options outside of the H-1B to help fulfill their global hiring needs throughout the rest of the year.
This session will introduce the basics of an H-1B visa including who qualifies, the importance of the H-1B cap, and available alternatives to help employers properly plan to meet their hiring goals. Best practices will also be reviewed illustrating how HR professionals can leverage technology to enhance their immigration process and develop a recruitment and retention advantage for their organization.
