For the past year Dr. Fitz-enz has been designing and conducting a research program linking the effects of human capital investments to the finances and operations of organizations.
Forty-five organizations, 16 companies and 29 research institutions and human resources vendors, contributed data. The scope of the study started with labor costs and human resources department expenditures. Then, it covered investments in workforce planning, staffing, pay and benefits, leadership development, performance management, learning and development, and turnover/retention.
In every case the question was what business effect, if any, was visible from the implementation of various talent management programs. Conclusions were drawn as to the most effective methods. Effectiveness was measured in financial and operational improvements.
