Yahoo! HotJobs Unveils the Next Recruiting Super Hero
Batman has one, so do Superman and Donald Trump. This fall even the stars
of Lost will have a set. And any five year-old will tell you, if you don´t
have a six-inch tall replica in plastic, you´re not legit. Now, thanks to
Yahoo! HotJobs the recruiting industry boasts its own line of recruiting
all-stars.
On the heels of last year´s wildly successful launch of the Super Recruiter
action figure HotJobs is extending their product line and unveiling Captain
Candidate, a fully-flexible, multitasking machine at the 2006 Society of
Human Resource Management conference.
Captain Candidate answers the call of the Super Recruiter on the first
ring. No job is too tough, and Captain Candidate plays well on any team.
And, there´s no need for lunch breaks; Captain Candidate draws nourishment
directly from his/her computer monitor.
The world may be surprised to see a company with such a dominant online
presence branch out into the world of superheros, but action figures aren´t
just for kids any more. The number of "kidults" and "rejuveniles" in the
workplaces is growing dramatically as adults are taking toys and action
figures out of the playroom and into the boardroom. Adults purchase 25
million action figures each year Based on data from "Toying With the
Globe", Peter W. K. Wang; Transworld Information Corp., 2004.
According to Toy Tips magazine 95 percent of office workers think it is
office-appropriate for executives to have toys; 93 percent believe toys can
boost morale and team spirit; 86 percent say toys reduce their own stress
at the office; and 82 percent would buy toys for coworkers and employees as
gifts.
HappyWorkers.com, the company that manufactured the Super Recruiter action
figure for Yahoo! HotJobs, was flooded with requests for the Super
Recruiter action figure after it was unveiled at last year´s SHRM
conference. One HR manager wrote in:
"We recently attended a human resources convention where we fell in love
with your action figure, The Super Recruiter. Can we order more? Last
night, my Super Recruiter was kidnapped and a million dollar ransom in
Monopoly money is required to retrieve her!"
