WorkForce Software to Reduce Operating Costs for Carlisle Tire & Wheel

Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company Plans to Automate Workforce Management Operations with WorkForce’s EmpCenter Suite
Livonia, Mich., February 21, 2007 - WorkForce Software, Inc., a leader in workforce management solutions, announced today Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company signed a contract for its web-based EmpCenterTM software suite and services.  Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company licensed EmpCenter’s Time and Attendance, Accruals and Absence Manager, FMLA Manager, Activity Based Costing, Employee Self-Service, and Biometric Terminal Servers to automate processes for up to 2,200 associates.  The company is rolling out the solution to 500 associates at the initial site, and then adding an additional 1,700 over the next year.

Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company spent a year reviewing workforce management software solutions to identify a solution that would reduce operating costs and improve efficiency.  The team evaluating the solutions had to look at the workforce management needs for five facilities within Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company and distinguish the commonalities and differences among those facilities to develop a list of functional requirements.

“WorkForce was chosen for two major reasons,” said Director of IT Darren Clemente of Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company.  “The professionalism and responsiveness of the WorkForce team, and the software’s capability of supporting complex environments.  The flexible and comprehensive functionality within EmpCenter clearly distinguished itself through our evaluation process.”

Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company began looking for an automated solution because their process was primarily manual for 2,200 associates in multiple facilities, with each location having different requirements and processes.  For example, each facility has its own calendar and rules for accruing vacation, sick and holiday pay; some facilities use hire date, while others use the calendar year.

“During our software evaluation process, we participated in software demonstrations,” said Clemente.  “WorkForce took the time to understand our needs and easily demonstrated solutions to address our specific requirements.  One of our facilities has a ‘tire builder incentive’ which calculates pay based on the quantity and type of tires produced.  We were impressed at the ease of automating this process within EmpCenter and the inherent checks and balances within the solution.”

At the initial site, the company currently uses a manual system for tracking the in and out times of associates.  Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company is installing biometric terminals provided by WorkForce to accurately collect attendance data.  EmpCenter will collect the data from these terminals and automate all other processes – from accruals to overtime calculations.  “Our most important activity in rolling out this solution will be training our associates on how to use EmpCenter and more importantly how the solution enables the transformation of manual processes,” said Clemente.  “We want to make sure that everyone is on board, because our benefit case is based on realizing value from the end-to-end, automated nature of the EmpCenter solution.”

“We are pleased to have Carlisle Tire & Wheel as a new customer and business partner,” said CEO & President Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software. “Their complex pay-for-performance incentive plans are increasingly becoming standard practice in manufacturing firms.  EmpCenter’s ability to automate these types of plans, lower payroll costs, and automate business processes yields a large and measurable return on investment.  We are confident our solution will help Carlisle Tire & Wheel reach its goals of reducing costs and improving efficiency.”
