WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON IN THOSE CUBICLES? YAHOO! HOTJOBS POLL EXAMINES LOVE IN THE OFFICE

Love may not be any further away then the next cubicle, according to a new nationwide survey by Yahoo! HotJobs. If you've smooched with a colleague, you're not the only one. In fact more of your colleagues are willing to look for love in the office than in years before. Here is a media alert by the career folks at Yahoo! HotJobs - if you're interested in exploring more about the love in the workplace, consider speaking with Marc Karasu, Vice President and career expert at Yahoo HotJobs. Marc can discuss: ·Why love in the workplace seems to be growing in America; The dangers of office romance; What kind of working environments lend themselves to developing a romance; Some common policies companies set regarding office romance.

NEW YORK - February 9, 2006 - If you´ve ever seriously considered asking one of your colleagues out on a date, you are not alone, according to the results of Yahoo! HotJobs´ 2006 "Love in the Workplace" survey.

And, if you´ve already made the romantic leap and kissed a co-worker, you´re in good company-37 percent of workers polled have already done so.  That willingness to pucker up doesn´t necessarily mean the long-held taboo against inter-office romance is lifting however:  only 34 percent of respondents said they would be willing to take it to the next level and date a colleague.  Employers, surprisingly, seem more open to inter-office dating than their employees as 54 percent of respondents said their offices no longer discourage dating among employees.

Other findings of interest include:

Nearly half of the respondents (46%) know someone in their office who has been romantically involved with a co-worker.

More than thirty percent (32%) of survey respondents have caught colleagues romantically red-handed with an office mate.

More than one in three (34%) would seriously consider dating someone at their company.

Thirty-seven percent of those surveyed have gotten up the nerve and kissed a co-worker.

More than half (54%) of those surveyed say their company does not discourage office romance.
