Ultimate Software (Nasdaq:ULTI), a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human
resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, announced today
that its customer Western National Property Management (WNPM) credits
Ultimate Software's UltiPro for improving WNPM's human resources and
payroll practices.
WESTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2007--Ultimate Software
(Nasdaq:ULTI), a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human
resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, announced today
that its customer Western National Property Management (WNPM) credits
Ultimate Software's UltiPro for improving WNPM's human resources and
payroll practices.
WNPM is the real estate management arm of Western National Group,
a privately owned line of companies with expertise in multifamily
development, construction, asset management, property management, and
ancillary services. The company's more than 1,100 employees currently
manage more than 26,000 residential units.
Limitations with the service bureau and in-house payroll systems
the property management firm was using before UltiPro led the firm to
evaluate Ultimate Software's HR management offerings. The previous
solutions lacked the business reporting, functionality, and
flexibility that WNPM required to take its workforce operations to the
next level strategically. WNPM's Vice President of IT Ken Hodges
reports that after an on-time, under-budget implementation of UltiPro
in 2005, the company has realized greater business benefits by:
-- employing UltiPro's detailed reporting to identify and address
specific workforce issues before they escalate
-- bridging the technical gap between the human resource and
payroll departments, helping them better serve employees
cooperatively and improve efficiencies through UltiPro's
integrated functionality and Web feature set
-- using UltiPro's flexible setup with hundreds of business rules
applied automatically to address unique business requirements
related to compensation
Before UltiPro, WNPM's employee services teams had difficulty
generating certain reports because they did not have a real-time
reporting tool that linked HR and payroll's two disparate systems.
With UltiPro, data and processes are unified in one system; users can
run standard reports or create up-to-date, ad hoc business
intelligence in minutes. WNPM has found UltiPro's reporting to be
vital to management's initiative to find and handle issues before they
turn into major problems.
"Every organization needs to be able to spot trends that can
result in unnecessary expenditures, unfairness, or legal actions.
Using UltiPro, we have been able to locate relatively minor issues
involving overtime and turnover that could have turned serious if
management had remained blind to them," said Hodges. "UltiPro's
reporting helps us monitor our own pulse and see things clearly to
protect our employees and the company."
System administrators in both human resources and payroll use
UltiPro's reporting without concern about reconciliation or
duplication of information since all employee-related data is housed
in one system. Based upon security rules, managers and employees can
also tap into relevant business and personal details anywhere with an
Internet connection. Managers can view complete details about their
staff associates, such as compensation history, performance review
dates/results, job and training histories, and more without contacting
HR or payroll. Employees can apply for vacation time, print W2s, and
see their current or historical pay details.
"We have employees spread throughout many locations who previously
needed to contact HR and payroll, sometimes outside of normal business
hours, to get questions answered. Now, they can get those answers
themselves through UltiPro's employee self-service. Our HR and payroll
teams are providing better service while gaining more time to focus on
higher-level activities," said Hodges. "From functional and
performance standpoints, UltiPro delivers and our entire organization
is taking advantage of it."
Hodges and his IT team minimize errors and the need for manual
intervention by leveraging UltiPro's flexibility to manage hundreds of
unique issues and exceptions. For instance, because employees may work
in different divisions in the same pay period, they may receive their
salary based on either a percentage of the department or division in
which they work or based upon the hourly rate of the job in that
particular division. UltiPro performs these complex calculations and
allocations, including those related to worker's compensation,
benefits, and taxes, even if the workers are in different
municipalities in the same pay period.
"UltiPro is robust enough to handle even the most complex
calculations, but easy enough for our controller to set up and
manage," said Hodges. "UltiPro is rock solid and allows us to tailor
it to our business. In addition to the software, Ultimate Software's
service has been a very positive experience. From implementation to
training to customer support, we are very satisfied with the
solution."
"Ultimate Software works hard, from the point of product
development through ongoing customer services, to understand our
customers' business requirements and deliver results beyond their
expectations," said Greg Swick, senior vice president of sales for
Ultimate Software. "As Western National Property Management has found,
UltiPro is designed to be highly functional and at the same time easy
to tailor to our customers' unique needs."
