October 2, 2006 - Sarasota, FL-based MilitaryStars, the nation´s largest military career expo company, proudly announced today that it has won the Military Standard of Excellence Award from the Web Marketing Association for the military hiring event company´s own www.militarystars.com.
"It´s truly an honor to be able to do what we do - helping military veterans find civilian jobs - every day," said MilitaryStars President Todd Hecht. "Being recognized through our innovative and user-friendly website only goes to show that we strive to make it as easy as we can for veterans to obtain quality civilian employment. When you think about it, these men and women have already done some of the hardest, most exhausting work in the world by serving in the Armed Forces, and done so honorably and proficiently. They deserve as easy a time as possible to find high quality, meaningful work when they return from service. With our website, we´re giving them that capability."
The website, http://www.militarystars.com, was entirely overhauled, revamped and re-launched in April 2006 with expanded resources for military job seekers and overall ease of use features. It was among eight total websites that received awards in the Military category of the 2006 Web Awards, and was one of only two private companies that received awards in the category; all others were agency-related.
2006 marks the tenth year of the Web Awards, a function of the Web Marketing Association.
"The World Wide Web continues to evolve in terms of Web site development and the expectations of visitors to sites," said William Rice, President of the Web Marketing Association. "The Websites today are more integrated than ever and have multimedia tools embedded into the site rather than as links. The WebAward winning Websites have once again set the standard for all Web development. This accomplishment serves as an invaluable marketing opportunity for both the winning website and company and serves as a benchmark for all Websites within each industry."
Judging for the awards took place for roughly four months from June - September 2006, and the MilitaryStars website was rated on seven distinct aspects: design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use. The site scored highest in the area of ease of use, following directly by copywriting and interactivity. The site scored higher than the military industry average and the WebAward average in all but two areas.
"Our efforts on this website truly show our dedication to finding military veterans employment opportunities," said Hecht.
Launched in April of this year to astounding response and continually updated and enhanced throughout the judging period, the MilitaryStars website award caps off a banner year for the military career expo company, having been selected a Best Places to Work in Tampa Bay finalist by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, as well as having secured finalist status in two categories for the American Business Awards, one for Best New Company and another for its parent company´s CEO, Bill Laughlin of Orion International.
