(Alpharetta, GA) September 20, 2006 - The Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing has recognized Rock Island Arsenal and Tobyhanna Army Depot with the 2006 Shingo Prize http://www.shingoprize.org [Public Sector Award] for achievement in implementing lean systems in support of the manufacturing, repair, overhaul and maintenance of war fighter equipment.
"The 2006 recipients are not only saving American taxpayers´ money, but increasing the quality and availability of military weapons that protect Americans at home and Soldiers abroad," said North American Shingo Prize Director, Ross Robson.

The two Army Commands received their awards at the 2nd Annual Shingo Prize Public Sector Conference, September 7, 2006, at the Tropicana Resort and Casino Hotel in Las Vegas.
