The awards were presented on June 12 in New York City. More than 1,500 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories. Nicknamed the "Stevies" for the Greek word "crowned," The American Business Awards are the only national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace. Ultimate Software's entry for Best Customer Service Organization focused on the strategies used to achieve its customer retention rating of 97%. Some of the components of Ultimate Software's "Passion for Perfection" customer service initiative included providing customer service representatives with bonuses and other awards based on customer retention and satisfaction metrics, the implementation of technologies to empower customers with more and faster information via the Web, and state-of-the art tools to enhance response times.
