WESTON, Fla. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Ultimate Software (NASDAQ:ULTI), a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, announced today that its Development team was selected as the “Best Product Development Team” by the American Business Awards in its Stevie Award competition. More than 2,600 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories. The awards were presented on June 12 in New York City.
Among the achievements of the Ultimate Software Development team in 2007 were its delivery of the first single-database software-as-a-service (SaaS) payroll and human resources solution for management of Canadian employees and the successful execution of three very different strategies simultaneously:
* changing to Microsoft C#.NET and ASP.NET, enhancing the UltiPro product through Web Services and service-oriented architecture (SOA), and increasing product development speed and accuracy with new testing tools;
* changing its development methodology to Scrum, the Agile collaborative development approach; and
* creating a highly successful internship program to bring in very bright, “cream-of-the-crop” college programmers and hiring the best performers.
“Having a high-performance development team that operates strategically using state-of-the-art technologies is critical to our product and business success,” said Scott Scherr, president, founder, and CEO of Ultimate Software. “This award is strong third-party validation that our development team stands out not only within our industry but also compared with other such teams in diverse industries nationwide.”
