ST. LOUIS (July 6, 2006) - Two Harrah´s employees, Bob Mast, materials manager, and Kate McMahon, employment manager, have been named the St. Louis Leukemia & Lymphoma Society´s Man & Woman of the Year. The mission of the Society is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
McMahon and Mast held four events to assist the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society´s eight-week fundraising campaign. Their four events raised a total of $40,000. Two events were held at Harrah´s, including a garage sale in the ballroom and an April Madness Pop-A-Shot barbeque and auction, held outside. Each event allowed for the company´s 2,000 local St. Louis employees to participate in fundraising efforts.
The two off-site events were held at The Loft Jazz Club (on Olive Street), and the Trainwreck Saloon (in West Port Plaza). Each venue featured bands with cover charges benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Both McMahon and Mast have previously won the Harrah´s Annual Chairman´s Award for Outstanding Community Service. In 2004, McMahon won for the property, and in 2005, Mast won for the property and for the Eastern division.
McMahon and Mast will also be recognized in a national advertisement in USA Today, which features photos of the top two fundraisers - Leukemia & Lymphoma Society´s National Man & Woman of the Year.
