San Diego, CA (May 16, 2006) - More than 250,000 veterans are homeless and unemployed after returning from war, and The Destiny Group has teamed with the U.S.VETS organization to end this injustice.

Since 1997, The Destiny Group has operated 10 unique databases that qualify and compartmentalize transitioning and former veterans using a proprietary skill assessment tool. Employers simply enter the civilian job they wish to fill and Destiny Group´s software will both translate their job title into military terms and serve up those veterans readily available for that opportunity. The President´s National Hire Veterans Committee has recognized this application as being one of the best job boards for employers to use to employ veterans.
Stephen Peck, Community Development Director of the U.S.VETS  Initiative has tapped his own Hollywood background as a filmmaker to create a high profile Board of Directors which includes two past US Presidents; famed director Oliver Stone; well known NYPD Blue Actor, Dennis Franz; Academy Award-winning actor Sidney Poitier; and many others to create awareness and more importantly to take action to correct this situation.

"Indeed, many of the skills learned in the military are directly transferable to the civilian market," states Bill Gaul, President/CEO of The Destiny Group. "However, there are many returning veterans that have a strong work ethic, good values, proven discipline, and are trainable to do almost anything.  Employers should open up their arms and welcome these proven performers into their ranks, and in return they will be rewarded with excellent, loyal employees that are motivated to be successful."

"We are pleased to team with The Destiny Group," indicates Stephen Peck, "to give our veterans access to the employment opportunities they deserve; U.S.VETS is glad to do its part by providing housing, clinical support and job skills. During their time with us they´ve developed the tools necessary to become independent and the confidence to be successful. They will welcome the opportunity to compete for these jobs so they can get back on their feet."

U.S.VETS is an innovative public-private partnership created in 1993 to fill gaps in the continuum of care for homeless veterans. Through a coordinated effort with the US Department of Veterans Affairs and other partners, U.S.VETS has built a national network of 10 facilities to assist veterans back into mainstream society.

The Destiny Group is pleased to add usvetsinc.org to our network of career and recruitment centers now totaling more than 100+sites which include: The Air Force Association, 101st Airborne Association, OConus, VetFriends, US Army Warrant Officer´s Association, and many others. With Memorial Day soon upon us, we urge employers to take action and give veterans a chance to interview for opportunities and keep an open mind to their potential.
