The Conference Board Names General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Sophia A. Muirhead has been named General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at The Conference Board, Inc., the global business research and membership organization. In her new role, Muirhead will be responsible for, among other things, corporate matters and board processes for the Trustees of The Conference Board.

April 15, 2008…Sophia A. Muirhead has been named General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at The Conference Board, Inc., the global business research and membership organization. In her new role, Muirhead will be responsible for, among other things, corporate matters and board processes for the Trustees of The Conference Board. The role of the Board of Trustees is comparable to that of a board of directors in for-profit companies.

Muirhead joined The Conference Board in 1998 as a Senior Research Associate, Global Corporate Citizenship, and was subsequently promoted to Associate Director, Research Working Groups in 2006. During her career at The Conference Board, Muirhead has identified, developed, managed and executed key management research projects in ethics and compliance, marketing and finance, corporate citizenship and sustainability, and human resources.

Prior to joining The Conference Board, Muirhead was an attorney in private practice specializing in corporate and securities law and represented underwriters and companies in initial public offerings and securities related dealings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Muirhead is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the New York State Bar Association. She received a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from Hunter College.
