Synergy Consulting Collaborative Responds to Financial Crisis With Survive and Thrive Program

An approach that can reduce the impact of today's financial crisis to both organizations and individuals may be found in both business and career risk analysis and scenario planning.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 6, 2008 -- The Survive and Thrive program is a unique approach to assist organizations and their employees who are deeply concerned about the impact the financial crisis may be having on their business and their careers. While the economic situation today is not labeled as a "Depression", it is producing a high level of fear and anxiety, and with good reason. Many people have heard stories from older family members who remember what happened following the 1929 stock market crash. Fear can take on a life of its own, impacting individuals' health and well-being, and seriously reducing productivity in organizations. Increased stress can lead to costly errors and, in some cases, reactionary behavior.

The foundation of the program is Surviving and Thriving Through Change, helping leaders, managers and employees to understand the impact of these changes to the organization and themselves. Leaders are encouraged to consider business alternatives through Business Stress Analysis and Scenario Planning and then revise their vision and strategy. Leaders are supported in reassessing their leadership talent, determining and fulfilling talent development needs, and creating succession plans that align with their revised vision and strategy. They are further supported in developing an engagement action plan to elevate their staff's level of engagement leading to improved productivity.

The Survive and Thrive program enables individuals to safely confront and manage their fears by taking action to identify and plan for all of their possibilities. Adopting tried-and-true organizational development and coaching techniques, SCC has developed two workshops: Careers in Progress, for staff that are continuing their careers within the organization and Careers on Pause, for staff who will be leaving the organization and searching for new opportunities.

In Careers in Progress, facilitators assist staff in conducting a personal career risk analysis to help them understand the possible impact of these changes to their careers. They guide staff in assessing their skills and abilities and then performing "what If" scenario planning to determine roles they might play in the future. They work with individuals to develop personal career action plans to strengthen their capabilities in preparation for future opportunities.

In Careers on Pause, participants will receive information and coaching support for their job search, including skills assessment, identification and tracking of opportunities, resume and cover letter writing, stress management, interview preparation and follow up.
