Stressed Government Employees Turn To Murder

Event management company Progressive Resources has created a range of events specifically for government employees, including Murder Mysteries.

(PRWEB) March 8, 2006 -- A company which specializes in organizing stress busting events for some of the UK´s top companies has launched a range of events specifically for government departments. Progressive Resources arranges corporate away days for such companies as BT, BP and Sony. ´We take teams of executives out of their offices and into the country´ explains Managing Director James Coakes ´Getting fresh air and taking part in fun events such as Archery, Murder Mysteries and Mountain Bike Treasure Hunts has a variety of positive effects including team building, stress management and motivation´.

There is a growing demand from government agencies to benefit from the same positive team building and motivational events as their corporate counterparts. ´It´s a balancing act´ says James Coakes ´they need to be effective and have access to the best performance improvement resources but at the same time they are understandably careful about spending money from the public purse.´

One of the most popular events organized by the company is their Murder Mystery. This takes place during dinner or over the course of a day in which teams seek clues and suspects while cycling around a rural location. Enjoying a day with light exercise and fresh air away from the office can do wonders for staff morale, lowering stress levels and increasing productivity.

The Murder Mystery is carefully constructed to require teamwork and collaboration to solve the various complexities of the plot. The objective is for the teams to work together to solve the three Ms; murderer, method and motive. They need to establish which of the characters, played by professional actors, committed the crime, how and finally why they did it. Every character had a motive, but only one is the murderer.

Providing workers with a chance to socialize away from the workplace can have a very positive effect on communication when they return. More often than not problems in relationships are caused by the pressures of work and a day in different surroundings doing something enjoyable gives people the chance to get to know each other and see their fellow colleagues in a different light.

´The private sector has been organizing fun events for their staff for years. Just because these employees work in the public sector they should not be expected not to have access to the same benefits´ says James Coakes.
