SRC OFFERS NEW BENEFITS TO RECRUIT THE BEST INTERNS

Syracuse, NY – SRC (formerly Syracuse Research Corporation) has taken its internship program to a new level – this year, interns at SRC are eligible for a list of benefits designed specifically to increase the number of top applicants and retain the best talent for full-time positions. The enhanced internship program now offers an intern housing stipend, a referral bonus and campus ambassador status.

The three new benefits to SRC’s internship program are designed to assist interns with temporary relocation expenses; reward current and past interns for referrals; and strengthen the SRC brand and presence across different college campuses. Eligible interns may even receive a stipend for housing, depending on the distance between where they are temporarily relocating and their permanent residence. In addition, interns can earn bonuses for referring candidates that are hired for internships or full-time positions. Lastly, SRC Campus Ambassadors, responsible for promoting SRC on campus, are paid per semester for their participation.

These great benefits are not even the best part of an SRC internship – the fact that students get to work on real-life projects from day one is what really draws the top recruits to seek a position at this growing company. SRC interns are involved in the same activities as full time employees, including research, design and development, customer interaction and occasional business travel. Interns are also offered a variety of technical classes at SRC that expose them to different expertise within the company, as well as a complete lineup of social activities throughout the year. In addition, interns learn in a creative and flexible work environment working side-by-side with some of the most innovative engineers in the business – contributing to projects that are saving lives every day in the global war on terror. Many report that the chance to work on projects of national significance is not only satisfying; it’s a life-changing experience. Over 50 percent of interns return to SRC, either for full-time positions or second internships – that number speaks for itself.

“SRC has taken a unique approach to the internships we offer,” states Bob Roberts, SRC’s president and chief executive officer. “As a ‘try before buy’ program, SRC and the intern alike can learn more about each other. Does the individual’s technical ability match up to SRC’s high standards? Is the work environment and culture a good match for the intern? Our goal is to hire for long-term employment and we want to be sure the fit is good. This program gives interns the experience necessary to succeed as professionals, and to develop a lasting career with us.”

Annually, SRC hosts approximately 40 interns that assist their employees in all aspects of the organization – from technical and scientific positions to support services. By partnering with some of the top colleges and universities in the country, SRC has leveraged its position as a leading research and development organization to obtain some of the top college recruits. Adding benefits like housing and bonuses, SRC interns are able to maximize their experience and get a taste of the “real world.”
