WESTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2007--Ultimate Software
(Nasdaq:ULTI), a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human
resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, announced today
that Sears Methodist Retirement System, Inc. (SMRS), a leading senior
living provider in Texas with 1,900 employees, is "live" on employee
self-service provided by Ultimate Software's UltiPro.
SMRS had been using an in-house HR/payroll solution that was not
fully integrated, resulting in duplicate data entry, difficulties in
developing reports, and inconsistencies in information across multiple
databases. The retirement center chose Ultimate Software's UltiPro in
August 2005 to help manage planned growth, build efficiencies, and
deliver self-service to associates working in 13 campuses in 9 cities.
Since purchasing UltiPro, SMRS has grown from 1,200 to 1,900 employees
and has used UltiPro to:
-- improve service to employees
-- empower remote locations with control over their processes and
real-time reports
-- streamline HR/payroll operations
"We rolled out employee self-service in the fourth quarter of 2006
to help keep the quality of employee service high and administrative
investments low. The reaction from employees has been very positive.
They appreciate having the ability to access their own information,"
said Della Rodriquez-Hill, corporate HR director for SMRS. "Now that
employees can view their own human resource and payroll details, we
are on track to experience a significant reduction in calls to HR, so
we will have more time to focus on strategic projects rather than
responding to individual requests and managing paper."
With UltiPro, SMRS can experience the business benefits of a
comprehensive strategic human resource and payroll solution while
keeping their collection of HR/payroll data decentralized.
Organizations using UltiPro can manage human resources and payroll
operations centrally, from remote locations, or a combination of both
options, as SMRS has done. SMRS has given its campuses the right to
manage their own information -- including report generation, the new
hire process, and payroll submission details -- from their locations,
although the corporate office manages payroll and develops workforce
analytics focused on the corporate headquarters, individual campuses,
and companywide.
"Surveyors from the state observe and monitor our operations, so
when necessary, our campuses can pull reports on their own specific
locations for state officials," said Hill. "On the other hand, if
corporate HR wants to evaluate employee performance by a particular
manager, location, or job title, we can do so without waiting for
detail from individual campuses or manually compiling figures."
UltiPro's flexible setup is also creating efficiencies for the
HR/payroll team by improving productivity and providing time for more
strategic activities. SMRS has experienced the complexities of a
dispersed workforce, seven federal identification numbers, and
dramatic growth, and yet the team has shaved time spent on
administrative tasks, like processing payroll, which now takes about
half the time to complete with UltiPro. Hill attributes her team
efficiencies both to UltiPro's functionality and its ease of use.
"When new employees use UltiPro, minimal training is required,"
said Hill. "The solution is very intuitive, walks users through
complex processes, and alerts them if they have forgotten a step.
UltiPro has taken the guesswork out of completing our jobs."
"Customers often tell us that their daily responsibilities are
much less burdensome with UltiPro," said Greg Swick, senior vice
president of sales for Ultimate Software. "It's very satisfying for us
to see SMRS, and other similar organizations that are using UltiPro,
experience such success in creating efficiencies and becoming more
strategic in managing their employee-related processes."
