SALARY.COM™ SURVEY REVEALS SALARY DIFFERENTIALS FOR CEOs AT SMALL, MEDIUM AND LARGE COMPANIES

Median salary for small business CEOs is $233,500 compared to $849,375 for large businesses according to Salary.com Small Business Executive Compensation Survey
Waltham, MA—November 29, 2007— Salary.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: SLRY), a leading provider of on-demand compensation and talent management solutions, today released the results of its 2007 Small Business Executive Compensation Survey.  The annual survey—the most comprehensive source of small business compensation data available—reports on 12 key executive job functions in companies with up to 500 full-time employees.  This year’s survey includes data from 2,237 organizations, representing an average company size of 92 employees and a broad range of industries, geographies and ownership structures.

“The lack of reliable information on executive pay for the small and mid-size segment was evident by the amount of interest generated by last year’s survey,” said Christine Midwood, director of survey services for Salary.com. “The need for small business executive compensation data drove our response rate 15 percent higher this year, enabling us to report on nearly double the number of metro areas.”

According to the survey, the national median salary for a small business CEO is $233,500. Additional Salary.com research shows the national median salary for a CEO at a company with 500-5000 employees is $500,000 and $849,375 for CEOs at companies with over 5000 employees.  Full survey results are available at: http://smb.salary.com.

“As companies grow, so do the responsibilities and paychecks of their executives,” added Midwood.  “To attract and retain the best talent, it’s important for smaller companies with smaller budgets to emphasize non-cash advantages such as company equity or work/life balance.”
