Saba Reaffirms Support for Industry Standards

SCORM 2004 Certification Underscores Long-standing Commitment

Redwood Shores, Calif., April 24, 2006 - Saba (NASDAQ: SABA), the premier Human Capital Management (HCM) software and services provider, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting industry standards that promote the usability, accessibility, and interoperability of business application software.
Saba´s recent certification from the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) initiative for conformance with the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) 2004 underscores this commitment.  SCORM 2004 certification demonstrates that Saba HCM solutions meet stringent requirements for content interoperability and reuse to facilitate seamless integration of SCORM-compliant courses and learning objects with the Saba solution.

The ADL initiative is a collaborative effort between government, industry and academia to establish a new distributed learning environment that permits the interoperability of learning tools and course content on a global scale. Launched in 1997 by the Department of Defense and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the ADL is chartered with developing an open architecture for standardizing the reusability and interoperability of online learning content.

Saba is a strong advocate of standardized methods to express the format of and functionality required by content as well as standards describing profile data about learners, definitions of competency and certification, and metadata information needed to classify and discover learning objects. Saba´s open architecture and standards-compliant approach prevents organizations from being locked into a single system for content authoring, content delivery, or content management-whether customers deploy content created solely with the Saba Learning Suite, develop content with authoring tools of their choice and manage it through Saba Content Management, or purchase content from a third party. Saba Content Management is designed to help organizations capture, consolidate, organize, manage, and reuse critical learning content developed and stored in the many silos across an organization.

Saba is also committed to providing infrastructure that will work with standards-compliant content and services and actively participates in standards bodies like the ADL, as well as the Instructional Management System (IMS), the Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE).

"Ensuring our products comply with industry standards, such as SCORM, means reduced costs, faster time to value, and more widespread end user acceptance for our customers," said Bobby Yazdani, chairman and CEO, Saba. "We are dedicated to supporting industry standards that drive the widespread adoption of HCM and enable organizations to realize even more value from their HCM investments."

Saba´s solutions have been architected to fully leverage industry standards as well as alternative methods of integration, including:
-        Java Architecture (J2EE) - which provides mass interoperability, readily available market skills, and proven development techniques
-        Integration - to enable flexibility in data format (XML, web services, csv, batch, etc.), methodologies (http, https, ftp, etc.), and business processes
-        Competency Libraries - that provide flexible vendor sourcing, industry standard definitions and easy best practice adoption
-        Content and Training Libraries - that provide support for multiple authoring tools and formats, flexible vendor sourcing, and custom/targeted/extensible         libraries, as well as a Content Compliance Testing Tool to help customers ensure internal and third-party content is compliant with industry standards

To support broad accessibility by all users, Saba was also recently certified compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the World Wide Web Consortium´s (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) - Priority 1.  Both independent certifications confirm that Saba´s industry leading HCM suite meets key international accessibility standards for people with disabilities.
