The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reported that retaliation claims and discrimination charges are up 23% for the year ending September 30, 2008 to 32,000, which is more than a third of all claims filed with the Agency. Other claims, not involving retaliation, were also up 12%. The EEOC said stamping out retaliation is the Commission’s top priority in enforcement of anti-discrimination law, as people must feel comfortable filing complaints.
