Phoenix, AZ (Vocus/PRWEB ) January 28, 2010 -- February 2nd marks National Job Shadow Day and the public release of Pursue the Passion, a book authored by Brett Farmiloe that chronicles four recent college graduates as they traveled across the country shadowing over 300 professionals to find what drives the passion of people who love what they do.
Known as Pursue the Passion, this group of four young men set out on a series of cross country road trips in a colorful 30 foot RV to ask passionate people about the path that led them to meaningful, fulfilling careers. The 16,000 mile journey led them inside the corner offices of CEO’s, through unconventional workplaces such as a rural goat farm, and gave them access to large corporate campuses like Nike, Microsoft, EA Sports, and even Playboy.
The Pursue the Passion crew found plenty of interesting interviews as they traveled across America. They interviewed the CEO of MGM Grand, Michael Jordan's shoe designer, and an executive chef with her own show on the Food Network. They also interviewed a telephone repairman, a goat farmer, the first maximum security inmate to become a warden of a prison. All of these interviews and the crew's experiences are featured in the hardcover, full color coffee table book.
"This is the coolest thing I've ever done," says Brett Farmiloe, author of Pursue the Passion. "To be able to see America from the road, and to explore the passions of people; it's amazing. The coolest part about the project is that this is something anyone can do. Any person wondering what to do with their life can find someone in their local area to interview. Those interviews are invaluable experiences."
With the release of the Pursue the Passion book, it is their hope that the stories they have collected will inspire other young people to pursue their passions and help guide them in their life’s journeys.
"We know firsthand what it's like to not have your heart in your job," said Farmiloe. "We resigned from corporate auditing jobs and decided to not only find out what drives people who love what they do, but also share what we found with others so they can find fulfillment in their professional lives. Releasing the book on job shadow day was really important to me. There are students across the country who will have the opportunity to see what it's like to be a professional for a day and they will learn so much that will impact their own professional choices. We wanted to take that same experience and extend it beyond one day a year."
About Pursue the Passion
Pursue the Passion was inspired by a statistic: Half of the American workforce is unhappy with their job. During the summer of 2007, four recent college grads were sponsored by Jobing to travel across America in an RV. Their mission? To find out what makes people passionate about their work. 16,000 miles, 38 states, 300 interviews and 10,000 photographs later, Pursue the Passion profiles the interviews and stories collected from the cross country journey. The book is available on Amazon today, and can be purchased by visiting http://bit.ly/ptpbook.
