PREVISOR SURVEY SHOWS THAT ONE IN FIVE WORKERS ADMIT HAVING STRETCHED THE TRUTH TO SECURE A JOB

Survey Highlights the Need for Pre-Employment Testing to Verify Applicant Skills;Today´s Employers Need to "See Below the Surface" When Selecting Candidates

Washington, D.C. (June 26, 2006) - PreVisor (Booth # 2405), a leader in workforce selection and performance, today announced at the SHRM Annual Conference the results of a survey that revealed one in five full time workers admits to having stretched the truth about their prior work responsibilities or knowledge of industry-specific tools in order to secure a job. The survey, commissioned by PreVisor, demonstrates the need for employers to pay closer attention to the hard and soft skills of potential employees.

Further analysis of the survey revealed that, on average, respondents believe one third of their coworkers do not fit in with their employers´ corporate culture. Responses also demonstrated that over half of the participants believed their own qualifications did not match those required for the job at the time they were hired, citing that they were either over or under qualified.

"With a high demand for skilled workers it´s tempting to cut corners and overlook the necessity for a comprehensive workforce selection process," said Noel Sitzmann, CEO of PreVisor. "The results of this study strengthen our purpose, and prove that employers, using interviews alone, can not always identify if candidates are adequately qualified for a position or if they are a fit with the culture of the organization."

Poor hiring choices, which have proven to be costly business decisions, can be prevented by combining skills testing and psychometric pre-employment assessments to evaluate a candidates´ readiness for the job and potential for growth in the future. Using PreVisor´s assessments, employers are seeing increases in sales, decreases in training costs, and improvements in retention and customer satisfaction ratings.

"Although we may perceive certain characteristics of individuals that would make for a good hire, it´s critical that today´s employers use all available tools to get an accurate picture of not only a candidate´s skills, experience and knowledge, but also their values, motivations and interests," continued Sitzmann.

Russell Research, a New York based research firm founded in 1946, conducted the online survey from June 9, 2006 to June 12, 2006. The 1097 participants were full-time workers over the age of 18, residing across the United States. Additionally the results were normalized to match the U.S. population by age, gender, ethnicity and region.
