WESTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ultimate Software (Nasdaq:ULTI), a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, announced today that North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat has improved its human resources operations, payroll processes, and reporting capabilities since deploying UltiPro Workplace.
Prior to selecting UltiPro Workplace, North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat used three different service providers for HR, payroll, and benefits management over a seven-year period. Because the organization experienced some costly problems with the vendor it most recently used — including some that affected shareholder compensation and internal company relations — the medical service provider needed a solution that could deliver greater accuracy and efficiency in human resources and payroll processes, as well as reliable customer service.
After seeing UltiPro Workplace’s functionality, flexible setup, and its ability to integrate with other business applications, the CEO and senior managers of North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat selected the comprehensive solution, delivered through software-as-a-service (SaaS). The medical firm has since experienced improved HR/payroll processes and data integrity, increased efficiencies in reporting, and time savings after a successful launch in January 2008. Other business benefits included a smooth, on-time, on-budget deployment, SaaS delivery that eliminated the need for on-premise IT support of an HR system, and Ultimate Software’s high level of personal customer service.
A rapid deployment is vital to launching an HR/payroll solution successfully, according to Sinead Ingersoll, HR manager for North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat. After four system implementations in the last seven years, Ingersoll has seen firsthand how errors and miscommunications during the set-up process can snowball into major issues.
“With the last vendor, we experienced a poor implementation that resulted in errors and discrepancies in compensation, leading to significant internal strife. Complicating matters further, the vendor could not identify what went wrong,” said Ingersoll. “With Ultimate Software, our experience has been completely different. I have to say that the UltiPro Workplace deployment was the most seamless, structured, and thorough roll out I have ever been through. Ultimate’s checks and balances, follow-up, and attention to detail were the greatest I’ve seen.”
Since deploying UltiPro Workplace, Ingersoll has witnessed improvements in the consistency of HR/payroll processes, resulting in records being more accurate than ever before. After completing quarter-end reporting, she was very pleased with the quality of data and how easy it was to generate tax and compliance reports with UltiPro Workplace. For example, today Ingersoll can run the report needed for the organization’s self-funded health plan in a few minutes. Before UltiPro Workplace, Ingersoll had to run 10 different reports and manually cut and paste them into one.
“UltiPro Workplace’s reporting is the best I’ve ever used and, with Ultimate Software, I don’t have to wait for a payroll service bureau to run reports or pay extra for them,” said Ingersoll. “I have the control of the data I need to meet our organizational demands.”
Ingersoll recently used UltiPro Workplace to create a report when company leadership realized it needed specific employee phone numbers to be used in the event of inclement weather delays or office closures. By creating a special field for these phone numbers in UltiPro Workplace that employees could access through self-service, employees entered the information themselves. Ingersoll was then able to extract the phone numbers and give them to her IT manager, who uploaded them to the automatic call system without HR having to enter data manually. Ingersoll was able to “turn on a dime” and modify UltiPro Workplace with the help of her Ultimate Software service representative, who assisted the healthcare company right away.
“Ultimate is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to service. When I have a question, I get a response very quickly. Because the service representative assigned to my company knows our unique needs, I don’t have to go into long-winded explanations on why we do something a certain way. Most other vendors just don’t get how important it is that their service team knows their customers’ particularities and how they are structured. It makes my job easier.”
“Organizations using UltiPro Workplace get greater efficiency and productivity in their human capital management processes and across their entire business, as well as improved accuracy of HR/payroll information, plus the individualized service that sets Ultimate Software apart from other vendors,” said Chris Phenicie, Ultimate Software’s Vice President of UltiPro Workplace. “It’s rewarding to be able to help North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat reach its HR and organizational goals.”
