REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – Dec. 5, 2006 – Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management 9.0 has been formally certified as conformant with the SCORM Version 1.2 (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) standard of the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative. SCORM is an important collection of standards and specifications that support reusable educational content and ensures that enterprise software is able to interoperate effectively and meaningfully with e-Learning content. Achieving this learning technology certification reinforces Oracle’s commitment to industry standards and reassures customers that Oracle is dedicated to providing flexible, adaptable applications.
Based upon a collaborative effort between industry, government and academia, ADL has established a third-party testing program to test and evaluate products against the set of SCORM standards and guidelines. An ADL Certification Testing Center reviewed PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management 9.0 and found the products to be SCORM Version 1.2 conformant.
“Oracle has always been dedicated to enhancing the usability and integration capabilities of our applications through the adoption of industry standards,” said Oracle Vice President HCM Strategy Gretchen Alarcon. “We have furthered that commitment by certifying PeopleSoft Learning Management 9.0 with the SCORM 1.2 standard. Customers will find increased value in our learning capabilities as they continue to rely on Oracle to cultivate a highly skilled and certified workforce.”
PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management 9.0 is also certified as compliant with the Aviation Industry CBT Committee's (AICC) Web-Based Computer Managed Instruction Systems (CMI) Guideline (AGR-010). This guideline allows AICC-conforming web-based learning content and courseware to interoperate with AICC-conforming LMS systems. AICC Guidelines are used across multiple industries in addition to aviation training.
Standards such as those set by the ADL and the AICC allow courseware and learning management systems to convey information and be integrated. They also give consumers a level of confidence that the content and the learning management system will work together to provide not just learning material, but data that can be used to meet an organization's strategic goals.
