NEW HR-XML CONSORTIUM WORKGROUP TO ADDRESS ONBOARDING SCHEMAS

CHICAGO, IL – The HR-XML Consortium announced the launch of a new project focused on developing universal XML schemas for Onboarding processes. The group’s goal is to develop a standard that HR solution providers can follow in order to easily transfer data from one application or system to another.

“We’ve had widespread interest in the Onboarding workgroup right from the beginning, and have gotten off to a great start,” said HR-XML board member and workgroup leader Andrew Cunsolo. “We’re excited to work on a process that will assist so many organizations, and we’re confident that the standards we develop will increase interoperability for software developers, service providers and human resources practitioners.”

The workgroup’s efforts will increase ease of interoperability across partners for a number of HR processes, such as sending Applicant Tracking and Payroll transactions to an HRIS. The new schemas will also dovetail with existing HR-XML standards, including screening, assessments, and benefits enrollment. Implementation should prove to be relatively simple for organizations that have already adopted HR-XML standards, since many of the onboarding-related transactions will share a common structure with existing schemas.

The Onboarding workgroup began as a member-driven initiative, in recognition of the need for standards around onboarding-related HR processes. Through a series of meetings and volunteer efforts, the workgroup will develop, test, and approve schemas that fit well with the HR-XML standards and prove themselves to be viable. The new Onboarding schemas are scheduled to be publicly introduced in the 3.2 release of the HR-XML standards.
HR technology professionals interested in onboarding transactions are invited to participate in the workgroup. While voting and full participation is limited to employees of HR-XML member organizations, non-members are invited to participate on a limited basis. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact HR-XML Director of Standards and Certification Kim Bartkus, at kimb[at]hr-xml.org.
