One thing we''ve worked hard on here is creating a good orientation program. When an employee joins the firm we take them through a carefully designed set of exercises that helps them understand our business. It introduces them to the other staff and it sets them up with a mentor. It also shows staff we care.
This helps retention because it hides the true nature of the firm long enough for them to tell all their friends what a great place it is to work. After spending a week raving to their friends about their new job, they are reluctant to quit when the real work hits.
