BANGKOK, Thailand (PRWEB) May 25, 2006 -- Accor Asia Pacific is pleased to announce the following appointments to hotels in China.
Gerhard Zimmer has been promoted to General Manager Delegate Beijing of Sofitel Wanda Beijing (http://www.accorhotels-asia.com/sofitel/index.asp?WT.mc_id=50006), and will be based at the pre-opening office until it opens in 2007.
Gerhard joined Accor in 1992 with the opening of Sofitel Hyland Shanghai and later held a number of senior operational positions in the Philippines and China. This included overseeing the opening of the Sofitel Boao, Hainan Island. He was most recently General Manager of Sofitel Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong Shanghai.
Douglas Barber has been promoted to General Manager Delegate Shanghai and will be based at Sofitel Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong Shanghai as General Manager. Douglas has worked in Asia for many years with Regal Hotels and Century International Hotels. He joined Accor in 2001 when Century became part of the Accor network. He was most recently the General Manager of Sofitel Ambassador Seoul in South Korea.
Rodney Trutwein is the new General Manager of Pudi Boutique Hotel Fuxing Parc Shanghai. Rodney first joined Accor over 14 years ago at the Novotel St Kilda Hotel in Melbourne. After working at several hotels in Australia he relocated to Asia in 1995 and has been general manager at Accor hotels in Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar. Rodney moved to China in 2004 and was most recently General Manager, Accor Jin Jiang Hotel Distribution Company, also based in Shanghai.
Gordon Wong has been appointed General Manager of the recently-announced Sofitel Riverside Qingyuan. Gordon set up a pre-opening office earlier this year and the hotel is scheduled for completion at the end of 2006. Gordon joined Accor in 2003 working with the Novotel Atlantis in Shanghai and was most recently General Manager, Novotel Watergate Shenzhen.
Lawrence Chew has been promoted to General Manager, Novotel Watergate Shenzhen. Lawrence was most recently Resident Manager of the Sofitel Xiamen and prior to that worked on assignment in southern Thailand. Before joining Accor, Lawrence held senior management positions with Zenith Hotels.
