Shri A. K. Antony, Hon’ble Minister for Defence has consented to be Chief Guest. The Chief of Army Staff General J.J. Singh, shall deliver a special address at this occasion. The conference would be attended by senior serving or retired Defence Officials, HR experts and business representatives amongst others. The programme outline is enclosed.
The event has assumed particular significance in the current economic backdrop where continued high growth has created an acute shortage of good manpower across the board. The pool of nearly 60,000 personnel retiring from the armed forces every year as Commissioned Officers or Personnel Below Officers Rank (PBOR) constitute a great repository of more than 250 varied Professional and Technical Skills that can be gainfully utilized by Indian industry and trade in various departments at different levels.
The time has indeed come for the Indian corporate sector to tap this highly dedicated and qualified human resource pool as an important component of its HRD strategies. It may be added that the Director General has now introduced exclusive management courses for Defence Service Officers at IIMs, XLRI, MDI and NMMI so that the retiring officers are conversant with the corporate language and business needs.
Noted HR experts from corporate sector, management institutions and related organizations shall be addressing the delegates at this event in a broader perspective. The event would also serve as a useful forum for exchange of ideas, information and interactive opportunities between the industries and the armed forces personnel.
