Princeton, NJ – More people (54%) from the financial services sector have secured the same or higher salary when they landed new positions in the first six months of this year, compared to those who did not (46%). These individuals received outplacement services from Right Management. Right Management is the talent and career management expert within Manpower, the global leader in employment services.
Right Management surveyed more than 2,200 North American candidates between January and June 2009. All individuals were from the financial service sector. The key findings include:
“These findings are more positive than I would have expected for job seekers in financial services,” said Lynn Brown, Market Vice President for New Jersey at Right Management. “The industry continues to go through tremendous upheaval. But what the data signifies is that there are still employment opportunities as businesses contract and restructure in some areas while also investing to grow in others.”
Brown notes that financial service candidates in New Jersey are encouraged and supported to build and manage their networks as part of the outplacement process. “People trust people, particularly in a sector whose ethics and motives have been publicly questioned. Networking is more than two times more effective to find new positions than any other approach and up to 6.5 times more effective than cold-calling a prospective employer directly.”
Right Management surveyed 2,264 people from the financial sector during January 1 and June 30, 2009. This research is part of ongoing analysis conducted by Right Management to evaluate the effectiveness of its outplacement services.
