Millions “Benefit” from Workscape during Annual Benefits Enrollment Season

Outsourced Benefits Administration Solution, Services Reduce Employers’ Costs

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (January 13, 2010) — [http://www.workscape.com/]
Workscape, Inc., a leading provider of integrated HR solutions and
services, today announced details of how Workscape’s Outsourced Benefits
Administration (OBA) solution and services helped its numerous clients
during the 2010 benefits enrollment season. In addition to its talent
management solutions, Workscape offers Web-based self-service applications
for benefits eligibility and enrollment along with integrated services to
produce positive outcomes for both employees and employers. Its services
engage the workforce in a highly interactive benefits experience and
include a full-service employee communications group and a 24/7 on-shore
employee support center.

From September through November 2009 - the 2010 annual benefits
enrollment season - hundreds of thousands of individuals from multiple
Workscape clients had the opportunity to make their benefits elections
online via Workscape’s OBA solution. With the inclusion of spouses and
dependents, Workscape administered benefits for close to two million people
on behalf of clients. During the same time period, call counselors at
Workscape’s Boise, Idaho call center handled more than 120,000 calls from
clients’ employees. The vast majority of queries were resolved on the
first call and callers reported an overall satisfaction rate of 97 percent.

“In just three months, Workscape administered the benefits for 614,000
employees –approximately the population of the state of Vermont – and
our call center managed hundreds of thousands of calls. During November,
our busiest month, the call counselors handled nearly 9,000 calls on behalf
of just one client. But these are not just numbers to us. We have a depth
and breadth of solutions, services and experience that enable us to provide
services to a large client base while supporting an individual’s unique
benefits needs,” commented Bill Bergen, CIO and Chief of Operations,
Workscape.

Susan Ramirez, director of global benefits, Hitachi Data Systems, said,
“This year’s annual enrollment was quite successful with Workscape
being a responsive partner and proactive in addressing our needs.
Workscape’s solution has helped to significantly reduce costs by
automating our processes and has made documenting and tracking elections
much easier for our team.”

Also during the 2010 enrollment season, Workscape’s Employee
Communications Services created and delivered close to 1 million annual
enrollment kits, ensuring that clients’ employees and their families had
all the information they needed to make appropriate and cost-effective
health care choices for 2010.

Overall, Workscape’s clients reported a reduction in benefits costs due
to process improvements and a greater number of employees selecting
cost-effective enrollment options. Additionally, increased participation in
employee flexible spending accounts helped both employers and employees
reduce tax liabilities.

Bergen shared, “We hear from many clients that Workscape’s online
decision support tools help employees to better understand the plan
selection process, making them better, more informed health care
consumers.” He continued, “In addition, our enrollment experience helps
clients achieve their cost-saving goals by driving higher participation in
consumer driven health plans.”

“We just completed our second annual enrollment with Workscape. The
first year we saved about 15 percent of our annual benefits administration
budget by leveraging Workscape’s online decision-support tools to drive
participation in our flexible spending accounts (FSA) and consumer driven
health plan (CDHP) options during the enrollment process,” commented Pete
Kneedler, director, Compensation and Benefits, Acosta, Inc. “This year we
again saw over 50 percent of our employees who enrolled in medical coverage
select one of our CDHP options, and more choice has led to greater
excitement and increased employee engagement.”
