Stevie Award Winners to Be Announced in New York in March
GRAND HAVEN, Michigan, February 2, 2007—Media 1 was named a Finalist in the Employer of the Year category in the 3rd Annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run – worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as “the business world’s own Oscars.” (New York Post, April 27, 2005).
Nicknamed the “Stevies” for the Greek word “crowned,” winners will be announced during a gala event in New York in March. Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and several other countries are expected to attend.
More than 600 entries were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, including Best Executive, Best Entrepreneur, and Best Community Involvement Program. Media 1 is a Finalist in the Employer of the Year category.
Media 1 was nominated for the Employer of the Year award in part due to the innovative cross-company, tiered award system that was put in place in 2006. Each team member earns a quarterly bonus based on how the company performs as a whole. “By implementing a team bonus structure, we have been able to give each employee a personal stake in the success of the company” said Chris F. Willis, CEO and founder of Media 1. Based on the success of this program, Media 1 has been able to add four new full time team members, have re-invested in training and development for the entire team, and has improved the team working environment through several facilities improvements. Media 1 believes in the philosophy that a high tide raises all the ships, and, overall, the company bonus program coordinates culturally to support the goal to raise each team member to his/her highest potential.”
Media 1 continues to grow and is looking to add an additional Managing Instructional Consultant to the team.
Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging. Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs select Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists during final judging.
The elegant Stevie trophy was designed by R. S. Owens, the same company that makes the Oscar and the Emmy award statues.
“Being named a Finalist in The Stevie Awards for Women in Business is an important achievement,” said Michael Gallagher, president of the Stevie Awards. “It means that independent business executives have agreed that the nominee is worthy of recognition. We congratulate all of the Finalists on their achievement and wish them well in the competition.”
“Media 1 has experienced rapid growth over the last year,” said Harrison Withers, Production Director at Media 1. “I believe that our ability to effectively manage that growth and sustain our financial stability while giving our employees a mental and financial boost has helped make us a finalist for this award. It is truly an honor for us.”
