SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Massachusetts Mutual Life
Insurance Company (MassMutual) announced today the appointment of Michael R.
Fanning as senior vice president and chief operating officer, U.S. Insurance
Group. Mr. Fanning, 43, will be responsible for all business operations
within the U.S. Insurance Group and will report to William Glavin Jr.,
The U.S. Insurance Group includes the distribution, marketing, product
management, finance, compliance, and operations for all of MassMutual's life
insurance, disability income and long term care products sold in the U.S.
Mr. Fanning brings with him extensive experience gained through successive
roles in the operations of several life insurance companies, most recently
MetLife, Inc. In the last of several posts at MetLife, Mr. Fanning was vice
president of new individual business, where he was responsible for
underwriting strategy, operations and medical departments. Prior to joining
MetLife, Mr. Fanning held senior operations and other positions at Reliastar
Financial Corporation and Mutual Benefit Financial Service Corporation.
