Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) March 12, 2010 -- Vested Outsourcing, the transformative new business model to optimize outsourcing agreements, is gaining momentum toward market adoption. Visionary industry leaders have helped accelerate the rapid market adoption of Vested Outsourcing, which was developed by University of Tennessee lead researchers in outsourcing and supply chain logistics.
Tim McBride, chief procurement officer for Microsoft Corp., says, “Applying Vested Outsourcing’s ‘five rules’ has the power to change the game of outsourcing.”
Todd Shire, global logistics sourcing strategy manager for Intel Corp., says, “Vested Outsourcing nails how to get collaboration right.”
Since the launch of Vested Outsourcing, there has been a surge of interest among Fortune 100 companies wanting to participate in field research, assessments and pilot projects to implement Vested Outsourcing within the supply chain logistics, facilities management, maintenance, call center and information technology (IT) outsourced service sectors.
Kate Vitasek, lead researcher and faculty for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Center for Executive Education (CEE), and author of the newly published book based on the research — Vested Outsourcing: Five Rules That Will Transform Outsourcing — is leading this nationwide field research and pilot projects.
Vitasek says, “At its heart, Vested Outsourcing is about structuring the outsourcing agreements and its economics around achieving desired outcomes, rather than a transaction-based approach. This foundational shift must be implemented properly to ignite innovation, improve service, reduce costs, and increase profits for both the company outsourcing and the outsource provider.”
To improve success for companies, Vitasek and her team are implementing pilot projects with specially appointed CEE program faculty. The program faculty include Tracy Currie, Bonnie Keith, Alton Martin and Pete Moore, who were chosen for their deep industry experience. Each will be leading field research and pilot projects within their respective industries.
Vitasek and Tracy Currie, CEO of Capto Consulting, recently launched a large-scale assessment in the IT industry to determine the extent to which the common outsourcing ailments are present in the IT outsourcing sector.
Currie said, “Information technology is the largest outsourcing sector. Yet for many Fortune 1000 companies, IT outsourcing relationships are broken. In the study, we aim to establish that by using the structured methodology and tools of Vested Outsourcing, companies will be able to stimulate innovation, improve operations, reduce costs and deliver continuous improvement over the life of an IT outsourcing relationship.”
