NEW HELP-WANTED ONLINE DATA SERIES TO BE LAUNCHED

Who: The Conference Board Economists June Shelp and Gad Levanon
 
What: Announcement of data from the first Help-Wanted Online Data series expanded to include labor demand vacancies in the U.S. economy, comparable in timing and geographic detail to the Bureau of Labor Statistics monthly unemployment figures.
 
This new series will be published at the beginning of each month in advance of the federal unemployment data and will be one of the earliest indicators of economic activity in the previous month. This series should enhance the ability of the press to track the monthly level and changing trends of advertised job vacancies, including job vacancies by occupation for 50 states and 52 of the country’s largest metropolitan areas.
