Here’s a new idea from North of the border that will suit the laziest among us, a jobsite where you find a job, not for yourself, but for a friend or colleague. You can actually make money by finding jobs for your friends.  Edinburgh-based job site ‘JobTonic.com’ brings a new spin to the world of recruitment by getting site visitors to recommend jobs to friends and gives them a cash reward if the friend takes the job. JobTonic’s MD, Gordon Adam, estimates that a person with 20 friends in administration and office work could net him/herself a cash reward of £3,000 with minimum effort. Those with friends in higher places could make a lot more.

Examples of rewards available on JobTonic.com today are:

Secretarial/administrative support                 £1,000
Customer service associate                          £200
Private client tax partner                               £10,000

Gordon Adam, who has spent 18 years’in recruitment, explained, ‘We know which of our friends, family members and colleagues are happy at work and which ones want to move on. So even people who are not looking for work for themselves can make money by referring jobs to friends. Referrers may be retired or on a career break or working themselves and will generally be motivated by wanting to help their friends rather than by the monetary reward. Visitors to our site can email job details direct to other people and get a cash reward if their contact takes up the job. In a way it is money for not working. It is just an extension of employee referral schemes that already exist in most companies. We hope people take advantage of the money to be made by helping their friends. ’

‘We estimate that we will be paying out £200,000 to referrers in the first quarter of 2007,’ concludes Adam.
