that Steefel, Levitt & Weiss, a nationally recognized law firm with
offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles, is experiencing business
benefits as a result of Intersourcing's IT services, secure data

    In 2003, Steefel's human resources and payroll team realized that
they needed to dig out from underneath the piles of paperwork in their
offices. Using a service bureau for its payroll, the law firm's
employee management processes were primarily paper-based, including
PTO requests, address changes, and compensation changes, and the forms
could take days to route from employee to manager and finally to human
resources or payroll. Occasionally, some documents were temporarily
misplaced, creating confusion and delays. With such an abundance of
paper, ensuring data accuracy was difficult. Subsequently, the company
decided to find an integrated solution to handle its end-to-end HR,
talent management, and payroll needs.

    During the search, the project team realized that Steefel's IT
team was already committed to other projects, and a project of this
scope would take significant resources to implement, while human
resources and payroll were not prepared to handle the upkeep either.
Because Intersourcing includes UltiPro's functionality along with a
comprehensive set of IT services for hosting the solution, Steefel
selected Ultimate Software's Intersourcing in 2004.

    "The crux of our problem was that we needed to move away from
paper to electronic media, but we didn't have excess IT resources to
dedicate to the project," said Larry Davick, project manager, Steefel,

    Steefel was also attracted to Intersourcing because Ultimate
