IHRIM Essentials for Successful Project Management Course to be held at Oracle HCM Users Group Conf.

In conjunction with the Global Oracle HCM Users Group Conference, IHRIM is presenting “Essentials for Successful Project Management,” a one-day course designed for both the beginning HR project manager who wants a good foundation and the experienced project manager who wants a refresher course. Jan Fretwell, Beachside Consulting, will instruct the course, which will be held Sunday, September 23, 2007 in the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
(Burlington, MA – June 24, 2007) In conjunction with the Global Oracle HCM Users Group Conference, IHRIM is presenting “Essentials for Successful Project Management,” a one-day course designed for both the beginning HR project manager who wants a good foundation and the experienced project manager who wants a refresher course. Jan Fretwell, Beachside Consulting, will instruct the course, which will be held Sunday, September 23, 2007 in the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ms. Fretwell, with more than 25 years of human resources and related system applications experience, will teach the course with a mix of lecture, class interaction and class assignments. Because she has assisted a diverse group of North American organizations (corporations, utility companies, government entities, and institutions of higher education) with workforces ranging from 1,000 to 100,000 through each stage of the system lifecycle, she will be bringing to the attendees an immense amount of hands-on, practical knowledge.

This course will cover:
•       Project planning, including stakeholder analysis, domains of change, communications and work breakdown structure;
•       Project management approaches, and how to select the approach best suited to your project type, needs, and constraints;
•       Assembling the project team and defining roles and responsibilities;
•       Team building, covering team dynamics and barriers to teamwork;
•       Project management skills, the key competencies and traits for success;
•       Estimation and justification, including cost/benefit analysis and risk assessment; and,
•       Project scheduling and control, tracking methods, the use of project management software, progress reporting, meetings, and final post-completion audit.

This one-day course focuses on the skills, tools and techniques that project managers or project team members should know to effectively define, plan and manage projects and project assignments – and this program has been approved for 6.50 recertification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
