Preventing “Post-Mortem” Performance Management!

In every organization there are two aspects of a performance management system – the formal and the informal. The formal process usually includes year-end or mid-year performance review documents that summarize performance. Too often the report on performance comes to the employee as a shock and does not align with their expectations. In addition, it is not designed to change performance, and relying on it to do so is usually a prescription for failure. This session will give participants a 4-step model for discussing problem performance in a way that both gets results and maintains the respect of the direct report on a day-to-day basis. Participants in this session will be provided a complimentary copy of the slides and workbook to deliver to managers in their own organizations.
At this webinar, you will learn how to approach others about problem behavior in a way that minimizes accusations, hostility and defensiveness. You’ll be equipped to better understand the other person, avoid giving gratuitous advice, and help them develop “ownership” of their own problems. You’ll be much more effective at uncovering buried issues, opening them up for discussion, and more importantly, bringing about resolution.
