In this session, Kyle Lundby, Ph.D., will present findings from his edited volume, Going Global: Practical Applications and Recommendations for HR and OD Professionals in the Global Workplace (2010, Jossey-Bass). Drawing from chapters covering the employee lifecycle, he will present the key takeaways on important topics such as global recruitment, selection, onboarding and leadership development. Recognizing that no two global organizations are the same, he will also present a framework for thinking about and classifying global organizations. Understanding where one fits in this framework has implications for HR strategy and day-to-day practices. Finally, he will touch on important issues such as the influence of national culture, work-family balance and maximizing international assignee success.
