Internal investigations of alleged ethics violations have never been more critical. Federal sentencing guidelines continue to raise the bar for establishing strict ethical and compliance guidelines. A flawed response can cause catastrophic liability, irreparable damage to an organization's goodwill and career destruction for the individuals involved. In contrast, an effective investigative response can significantly reduce liability and minimize the risk of penalties and criminal sanctions. This workshop will focus on the investigation practices that satisfy these critical ethical guidelines. We will depict "real life" challenges that arise during an ethics investigation, and examine key steps to take when investigating allegations of ethical misconduct.
