Doing it Right: Organizational Data Transformation (ODT)
As many organizations are well aware, migrating to a new HR or Human Capital Management system is usually a long, perilous, expensive and frustrating journey. All too often, HR analysis and line managers must sift through thousands of positions in an effort to fit the old organizational data into the requirements of the new HR system. In effect, they’re forced to serve the new system, instead of the other way around - manually juggling spreadsheets, Access databases, org charts and custom reports. It’s work that is traditionally labor-intensive, error-prone and almost always leads to project delays and budget overruns. The key to smoother, faster, less-expensive HR implementations is a visual, collaborative solution called Organizational Data Transformation (ODT).

3 Keys to Reducing Defensive Reactions to Feedback
Most managers are able to intuitively assess and describe employee performance issues, but what is difficult is communicating this information to the employee. Nearly all managers dread initiating these conversations and often avoid them, particularly if the performance issue relates to a behavior based issue. The underlying problem is the inability to translate what is “known” into words that are comfortable to say and will have the right effect on the employee. Learn about a new approach that bypasses the need to create performance messages peppered with the employee’s shortcomings. Often we refer to these conversations as “constructive” criticism. Even with the best of intentions, these messages usually feel confrontational causing most employees to react defensively. Utilizing the Performance Continuum Feedback® Method, performance messages come across as honest yet non-threatening allowing the employee to remain open to listening to the information as opposed to engaging in a confrontational exchange with the manager. Avoiding defensive reactions enables managers and employees to come to terms more quickly around developmental solutions and goals.

Preventing “Post-Mortem” Performance Management!
In every organization there are two aspects of a performance management system – the formal and the informal. The formal process usually includes year-end or mid-year performance review documents that summarize performance. Too often the report on performance comes to the employee as a shock and does not align with their expectations. In addition, it is not designed to change performance, and relying on it to do so is usually a prescription for failure. This session will give participants a 4-step model for discussing problem performance in a way that both gets results and maintains the respect of the direct report on a day-to-day basis. Participants in this session will be provided a complimentary copy of the slides and workbook to deliver to managers in their own organizations.
