“Summertime… And Teen Employment ISN’T Easy!”

Please join us for an informative session on teen employment as we help employers navigate the special considerations for this vulnerable segment of the workforce. We’ll take a look at a number of issues affecting teenage workers – and the implications for employers - that range from talking trash to dumping trash.
As organizations begin to prepare for the recruitment of millions of teenagers for summertime employment, they would do well to consider taking some key steps to protect members of this vulnerable segment of the workforce. With an alarming trend of sexual harassment complaints amongst teen employees, increasing safety issues, growing restrictions regarding hours and types of work for young workers, and escalating government involvement, employers are motivated to “getting it right” from the start.

This webcast will outline the ways in which your teenaged employees’ work experience with your organization this summer will be a positive one. We will be addressing topics that include: Recognizing, responding to and reporting workplace harassment; special harassment-prevention training strategies to consider for both young worker orientation and your front-line supervisor training; when and how to involve a teens legal guardian; compliance with wage and hour laws and work restrictions; the teen sub-minimum wage; and, the limitations on unpaid internships. We will also provide you with guidelines for your internal policies and best practices regarding the employment of young workers.
