The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, today announced the latest addition to its signature Innovation Tours, an ongoing series of talent management learning and networking events held in major metropolitan areas throughout the United States and Canada.

Washington, D.C. and Chicago, IL - January 16, 2006 - The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, today announced the latest addition to its signature Innovation Tours, an ongoing series of talent management learning and networking events held in major metropolitan areas throughout the United States and Canada. The new program, sponsored by SilkRoad technology, a leading provider of talent management solutions, will focus on "Onboarding Socialization: A Progressive Strategy to Retain Results-Driven Employees."

The tour will launch in Chicago on February 1. Keynote speaker at the Chicago event will be Jim Kohler, Principle of the Chicago office of world-renowned consultancy, Towers Perrin. Mr. Kohler will examine the latest industry research on onboarding socialization and share a highly effective approach to one of human capital's most important strategies for retention and engagement.

The Chicago session takes place on February 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. CT.

According to Aberdeen Research, 90 percent of Best in Class companies incorporate socialization into their onboarding process. But acclimating a new employee into the company culture needs to reach new levels in today's global, knowledge-based workforce.

Session participants will learn how to implement a socialization strategy that goes far beyond a simple introduction and checking a box. This presentation will show how to create a world-class onboarding socialization strategy that incorporates people, process, and technology-one that quickly builds employee alignment with all levels of the organization, propels employee performance metrics, and increases overall retention rates.

Each event's discussion of Onboarding Socialization and Cultural Integration will cover building a business case, best practices, and innovative technology.

Jim Kohler is a Principal in Towers Perrin's Chicago office. He is responsible for leading communication and change-based initiatives, as well as providing thought leadership around integrating communication, technology, and research into an organization's overall HR strategy. His consulting focuses on helping clients connect with their employees through face-to-face communication, media, and technology.

"This program provides important insight into onboarding socialization, an innovative approach that raises the bar on the effectiveness of onboarding programs.  An onboarding socialization and cultural integration program can increase employee engagement and improve retention efforts," said Allan Schweyer, HCI's President & Executive Director.

"Onboarding Socialization" events are free to professional members and guests of the Human Capital Institute.
