HR and Recruiting Trends in Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore

Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore are collectively known as the Four Tigers. This is due to the phenomenal growth of the four economies from the 1960s to 1990s. Their annual 6% growth rate was characterized by a strong manufacturing sector, an export-led economy and rapid industrialization. Sustained over three decades, the growth had often been described as amazing, astounding and spectacular. Despite the momentary setback to their economies during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, the Four Tigers had since rebounded and shown clear signs of steady development. In 2007, the four economies are expected to benefit from China’s massive growth and Japan’s cautious progress, and witness further growth. This article will examine the HR and recruiting trends in these four economies.
