Krazy George Henderson, on an October day in 1981 at Oakland Stadium, invented the sweep of crowd enthusiasm now known as the Wave. His seemingly trivial feat of coordinating humans to work together toward a common vision prompted author Dov Seidman to consider what it takes to start a Wave in the world of business. Seidman came to the realization that it has little to do with authoritative power and much more to do with reaching out, sharing one’s vision, being transparent, facilitating trust, and enlisting individuals to work toward a common purpose. In essence, it has everything to do with How individuals and organizations do what they do.
In How, Seidman stresses the importance of the way in which we behave, think, and govern in today’s hyper-connected and transparent society. A new reality is upon us, one in which How individuals and corporations conduct business is more important than What they produce or sell, and How represents an attempt to introduce readers to this paradigm and provide them the tools to work effectively within it.
