WHAT: The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) will launch a new NAM-endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System with industry, education and workforce development leaders on March 4. “At a time when millions of Americans face unemployment, manufacturing jobs with excellent salaries – and across all skill levels – are unfilled because of the lack of qualified applicants,” according to Engler. “These tough economic times call for clear pathways to help new and transitioning workers gain the skills they need for good jobs,” he said. The new NAM system focuses on the core skills required for entry-level jobs in all sectors of manufacturing, from alternative energy to life-saving pharmaceuticals.
