Great Place to Work® Institute Announces Best Practices Forum

Yahoo! and Umpqua Bank, two of FORTUNE's 100 Best Companies to Work For featured as guest speakers
San Francisco, CA, October 5, 2007 — Great Place to Work® Institute Inc., a global research and consulting firm partnered with Fortune Magazine and HR Magazine to recognize the nation’s best workplaces, announced today that leaders from Yahoo! and Umpqua Bank will present at the Best Practices Forum, on November 6, 2007 in San Francisco.

Barbara Baker, the executive vice present of Cultural Enhancement at Umpqua Holdings Corporation, an Oregon based community bank, will share how she develops and implements best practices on November 6, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. (P.T.).  Barbara oversees all culture, training and human resource functions.  New to FORTUNE's 100 Best list, Umpqua Bank stands out as a great place to work for their active role in the community, including the Connect Volunteer program that gives 40 hours paid time off to each employee to volunteer at a non-profit of their choosing.

Heidi Burgett, an Evangelist for Yahoo!, Inc., an Internet media company based in Sunnyvale, California will present on November 6, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. (P.T.).  Heidi manages corporate communications at Yahoo! and is responsible for internal branding, speech writing, and corporate messaging.  On the best company list for the past two years, Yahoo! believes that their greatest strength is their talent.  Yahoo! invests in their mostly Y-generation employees with an 820,000 square foot campus environment and an “Influential” speaker series closed to the press that have included Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Brokaw, and Steven Spielberg,.
