Nashville, TN, Oct. 16, 2006. Today Gordian Health Solutions, Inc. announced Phillip D. Suiter is taking the reins as president and chief executive officer of the Franklin, Tenn.-based population health management company.
Suiter will replace John Shull, who served as interim chief executive officer for eight months. Shull, who oversaw Gordian´s August 2005 acquisition by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, will return to his position as vice president to help with implementation of the New Blue strategy.
"We have missed John´s leadership at BlueCross and look forward to his return as we plan for our future," said Steve Coulter, MD, president of Government Business & Emerging Markets for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
Gordian, a privately held company, is a leading national provider of population health management services for mid-to-large sized companies across the United States. Its business emphasis is on lifestyle, health coaching, and chronic condition management services designed to help employers maintain a healthy and productive workforce and manage rising health care costs.
"Phillip has an established and well-deserved reputation as a leader and innovator in the health care industry, and I am confident that, under his leadership, Gordian will emerge as the premier company in population health management in the nation," Coulter said. "He has outstanding managerial credentials as well the ability to strategically position Gordian in today´s changing and challenging marketplace."
Over the past year, Suiter assisted Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Vanderbilt University´s Office of Technology Transfer in the commercialization effort of its Perioperative software application suite, crafting the overall business plan and leading the venture funding effort. During 2005, he served as president and CEO of Stinger Medical in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Formerly, Suiter served as director of development at Vanderbilt's Center for Better Health, president and COO of NotifyMD, Inc., founder and executive vice president of Medical Properties of America and general manager (Provider Division) of Inforum/Medstat Group.
"The market segments that surround Gordian´s core lifestyle management products are rapidly converging and consolidating," Suiter said. "Few companies have Gordian´s clinical depth, technological know-how, and financial depth to capitalize on the opportunity."
